GICLÉE PRINTS
A giclée fine art print is an equal blend of artistic input and high tech computer printing. The goal is to create a print that is as close to the original as possible.
First, the original artwork is photographed by a professional photography lab.
A high quality transparency of the original artwork is made. After the
transparency is approved by the artist, it is scanned by a high resolution
scanner, creating a digital file fo the image.
Second, if necessary, the artist makes color corrections on the digital image.
Many color proofs are produced, reviewed, and modified before the image is
approved for printing.
Lastly, each giclée image is printed by a IRIS printer capable of printing up to
10 million colors. The IRIS printer works by delivering a fine spray of ink, up to a
million micro droplets per second. The droplets are sprayed by precision nozzles
only a hand-mounted sheet of fine art archival paper. This allows for the
portrayal of the finest detail and vibrancy of the original image.
